Arco Iris (rainbow) in TabernoThis area of Almeria is blessed with beautiful scenery. Wonderful unspoilt beaches stretch along the Mediterranean with a backdrop of dramatic mountains. White villages are dotted like sugarcubes along the hillside.

Taberno is a small typically Spanish white village where time stands still. The menfolk wander down to their allotments where they grow luscious vegetables, then up to the village square to discuss the days business. The womanfolk still wash their clothes in pure mountain spring water at the fuente. The stillness only interrupted by the various vans selling fruit vegetables and fish caught that morning in the Mediterranean, 40 minutes away.

Here the pace of life seems unaffected by everyday pressures. Look out for the goats wandering by along the Rambla ( dry river bed ) that passes below the cortijo, stopping to drink at the balsa and the goat-herders donkey left to munch on the vegetation for a few hours each morning.
